WORKSHOP STRUCTURE

TRICKS OF THE TRADE ( Indoor/Outdoor ) A six part workshop for women to learn the basic "How To's" of building things.
This is a hands-on workshop, where you will actually build things. You will become familiar with the tools, materials and equipment needed to create many projects around the home and yard so that you can duplicate them at your own pace at any time.
We will be working outdoors, so bring water, gloves and a sunhat. You will want to wear working clothes and sturdy shoes or boots.

PART ONE: SKILLS USED TO MAKE A CONCRETE PAD AND A BLOCK WALL
Foundations - Poured concrete and cinder block
( Includes leveling the ground / setting forms / mixing / pouring / finishing )

PART TWO: SKILLS USED TO MAKE A ROOM OR ENCLOSE AN OPEN SPACE
Walls - 2x4's and Plywood / Drywall
( Includes measuring / cutting / leveling / nailing )

PART THREE: SKILLS USED TO MAKE A FENCE
Fencing - 4x4's and other materials
( Includes setting posts / leveling / hanging gates )

PART FOUR: SKILLS USED TO LAY TILE
Tiling - mexican pavers and sandstone
( Includes cutting / thinset / laying / grouting / sealing )

PART FIVE: SKILLS USED TO PAINT
Interior and exterior applications
( Includes prep / priming / patching / brushes )

PART SIX: SKILLS USED TO MAKE BASIC FURNITURE
Stools / Tables / Benches / Shelving
(Includes choice of woods / fasteners / stains / finishes )

Really, the only teacher anyone has is oneself. By workshops, as distinguished from classes, I mean a group in which there is a free interchange of ideas and work among participants.
